Bring your golf bag and experience some of Ireland's finest links courses. The Connemara Golf Club at Ballyconnely (only 12 miles away) is a championship 27 hole links course and a likely site of a future Irish Open. Also within a half hour drive is the 18 Inland Links at Oughterard. Visitor golfers are made to feel welcome on the course and in the clubhouse. The times are not a problem and green fees are reasonable.

Pack a tennis raquet and play on the Old Manor's own courts. Learn how to fly fish for salmon and trout or go on a shooting expedition on the grounds of the Ballynahinch Estate. Later on you can weigh your fish or just laugh about "the one that got away" over pints of Guinness in the Castle's pub.

See the beautiful countryside of Ireland from a new perspective . . . on horseback! Try day to week horse trekking with overnight stays. Hiking and biking tours are also available. For those less intrepid, walks and drives through the countryside or down to the beaches are recommended. Other points of interest include the nearby Aran Islands and the Glengowla Silver and Lead Mine in Oughterard.

Like to shop? Head for nearby Clifden! A two hour drive through the magnificent Connemara scenery brings you to world famous Lahinch and three hours away is Rosses Point at Sligo. You're right in the midst of the location of Connemara's classic film "The Quiet Man," starring John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara.
